Located at the extreme north end of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Mahendreshvara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, was originally built in 1561 by King Mahendra Malla. This temple was however, subsequently destroyed in the 1934 earthquake and the present structure was rebuilt thereafter. Also known as the Mahendreshvara Mandir is situated in close proximity to the Taleju Mandir.
