Ghats, Mathura a holy town that is renowned as the birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura is a most favoured devout center in India. This sacred place boasts of numerous serene theerthams, which are popularly called as ghats. Now the city has 25 ghats and each of them is connected with Lord Krishna in one way or the other. Devotees believe that a holy dip and performance of some rituals and poojas would retrieve them from their evil deeds. Among the numerous ghats, those that are scattered towards the north are called Vishram Ghats and towards the south are called Moksha Ghats. It is conventional that the devotee should visit all the 25 ghats to end up their pilgrimage of Mathura.

Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.
Bus : Mathura is well connected with nearby cities like Agra, Faizabad and Allahabad by state owned road transport corporation buses. Tourist Deluxe bus services are available from Delhi to Mathura, costing about Rs 500 per head.
Train : Mathura Railway junction is an important rail head in the Mumbai – Delhi, Chennai – Delhi rail route. Regular train services are available from Mathura to Delhi (Shatabdi Exp), Mumbai (Bdts Garib Rath), Kolkata ((Toofan Exp) and Chennai (G T Exp) along with many other cities in India.
Air : Delhi International airport is the nearest one, which is 147 km away from Mathura. Delhi airport is well connected with major cities within the country and abroad. Taxis are available from Delhi and it takes about 9 hours to reach Mathura and fare is about Rs 2500.
