The Abasuba Community Peace museum established in 2000 is located in Kenya,Homa-Bay county,Suba North District,Mfangano Island,waware location,in Ramba village. The museum was found in the year 2000 through its founding curator Mr. Jack Maurice Obonyo. The museum is one of the first community museum to be supported by the National Museum of Kenya and the Kenyan government through Tourism Trust Fund. Through this process the museum as constructed one of the beautiful community centre, museum gallery and a communal library.As a community museum it was initiated to help towards preservation and conservation of the Abasuba community both its cultural and natural heritage.
The Abasuba community Peace museum has seven working staffs and over twenty indirect working staff within the rock art sites. The museum is also a research centre for students, Doctors and professor and other related intellectuals wishing to study archeological sites of the lake Victoria region.
The museum works in promoting and protecting the cultural and natural heritage of the endangered Abasuba community. The museum also works with Trust for African Rock Art as well as the National Museums of Kenya in protecting and managing the rock art sites located nearby. In addition, the museum also caters for the marketing of various modes of peace and conflict resolutions.
