Pazhassi Raja Tomb is a famous memorial of the lion of Kerala or Pazhassi Raja. He is known for organising guerrilla warfare against the British in Kerala. His mortals are kept inside this memorial, which is located at Mananthavady. In 1805, Pazhassi Raja was cremated after his death during the warfare against the British East India Company. He died in an encounter at Mavilanthodu, which is near Pulpally that is around 1 km away from the main town of Mananthavady. Pazhassi Raja is considered to be the last king who revolted against the British after the death of Tipu Sultan.

Pazhassi Raja Tomb was constructed as a memorial for him at the point of cremation of Pazhassi raja. It was in this Pulpally cave that veer Pazhassi raja took refuge till the time British captured him. During the end of 1805, veer Pazhassi raja was killed by British in a ferocious encounter.

Taxi : Taxis and private vehicles are one of the most common means of travel to Wayanad. The most popular route is Bangalore – Mysore – Gundulpet – Munthanga – Sulthan Battery. The roads are in excellent condition.
