Skillingaryd is a locality situated in Vaggeryd Municipality, Jönköping County, Sweden with 3,889 inhabitants in 2010. Together with Vaggeryd the seat of Vaggeryd Municipality.
Skillingaryd is an old industrial town with many large companies.The town lies on the railway line Halmstad Nässjö, formerly part of the Halmstad-Nässjö Railways.Many old houses have been preserved, lots of open porches with ornate design details that are treasured still today and handled with gentle hands. Beautiful iron roofs and old gates are found mainly in the older parts of Skillingaryd.
The Western Camp and military museum has been used for militatry marching exercises since the 1680s. The heath goes right up to the edge of Main Street and along streets lined with foliage you glimpse the vast moors and the beautiful wooden houses in the Western camp. Still today, the area is used for military purposes.
