Pomigliano d’Arco is an Italian town, in the Campania region, northeast of Naples, near Mount Vesuvius, administratively part of the province of Naples.
The city is home to several automobile and the aeronautic manufacturing firm Alenia Aeronautica. It is also home to Elasis, Fiat’s research center in southern Italy, founded in 1988.
During World War II, Pomigliano was the location of a large military airfield and base, and was attacked on several occasions by the United States Army Air Force. The airfield was later used by the USAAF Twelfth Air Force during the Italian campaign and known as Pomigliano Airfield.
