Sweet Street or ‘Mithai Theravu’ as it is locally called is one of the most famous market streets of the town of Kozhikode. It is also known as the ‘SM Street’.Its name is derived from the time when this part of Kozhikode was renowned for its rows of shops that sold a number of varieties of traditional sweetmeats. Sweetmeat shops at the Street are today outnumbered by shops selling everything from flowers to clothing.
