Battipaglia is a town and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy, with some 51,000 inhabitants.The birth of the comune of Battipaglia was officialised by a Royal Decree on 28 March 1929.
The birth of the comune of Battipaglia was officialised by a Royal Decree on 28 March 1929. The bourbonic authorities had already chosen Battipaglia as the site of an agricultural colony, where families which had survived the 1857 earthquake in Basilicata could be rehoused.
