Shin-Yokohama Station is a train station in Yokohama, Japan. It is serves the Tkaid Shinkansen, Yokohama Line, and Yokohama Municipal Subway Line 3. Shin-Yokohama Station was opened on October 1, 1964 as part of the opening of the Tkaid Shinkansen. At the time, the surrounding area was completely rural, and the site was selected as it was the intersection of the Tkaid Shinkansen tracks with the existing Yokohama Line. The station was connected to the Yokohama Municipal Subway system on March 14, 1985. Shinkansen platforms 1-4 consist of two elevated island platforms. Platforms 2 and 3 have safety fences since (prior to March 2008) some trains passed non-stop through the station at speeds higher than 200 km/h. Platforms 5 and 6 for the Yokohama Line is a ground-level island platform.
