Located to the north of Candi Lara Jonggrang, Prambanan Museum is poorly displayed and laid out in a series of small houses connected by walkways. Explanations are minimal. Situated within the archaeological park Prambanan Temple Complex, this museum holds various archaeological findings of historical objects. The museum is built in traditional Javanese architecture, as house joglo.
The collection displayed here include a range of stone temples and various statues that were found in the vicinity of the temple of Prambanan. Some of the prominent examples put here are the statue of Nandi bull, sage Agastya, Shiva, Vishnu, Garuda, and statues of Durga Mahesasuramardini, including the Shiva Linga stone, a symbol of fertility. Replication Wonoboyo finding gold treasure such as the Ramayana carved bowls, scoop, bag, cash, and gold jewelry, as well dipamekan are also housed in this museum.
The original Wonoboyo findings are kept in the National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta. Replication architecture model and several temples such as Prambanan, Borobudur, and Plaosan are also exhibited in this museum. This museum can be entered for free by park visitors since ancient Prambanan park admission includes museum. Audiovisual performances on Prambanan temple is also shown here.
