Agia Varvara (Greek: Αγία Βαρβάρα, meaning Saint Barbara, is a suburb in the western part of Athens, Greece. The mountaintop of the southern part of Aigaleo lies to the west along with a street linking Nikaia and Chaidari. It is also located SE of Eleusis, S of GR-8A and Athinon Avenue, SW of Thivon Avenue, W of Kifissou Avenue (GR-1/E75, and Athens, NW of Poseidonos Avenue and about 7 km NE of Piraeus. The city has main streets including Gregori Lambraki Street and Petrou Ralli Street that is divided into two way roads which is also linked.
The area was mainly made up of farmlands. Mixed farming was common. Urban development replaced much of the farmlands between the 1940s and the 1970s. Today, most of the municipality are urbanized or residential. The rocky landscape of Aigaleo with a few bushes and pine forests lies to the northwest. The mountaintop is to the west. The industrial area lies to the east where the company named Viochrom SA is located.
