The castle went through tumultuous history, it was burning and ravaged several times but always was rebuilt and the tower still has lasted. The castle’s tower, the Guard on Pasieka island. The oldest one in Opole. It has overlooked Ostrówek and Pasieka for 700 years. The Tower is a sign of the passing time and symbol of Opole. It is one of the oldest monument of fortified architecture in Poland, built at the end of XIIIth century as a keep of princely castle of Prince Kazimierz of Opole.At that time the tower was a huge and modern building made of brick. Then the brick was not common material for building in Silesia and in whole Poland. The Piastowska Tower has attached to Piast’s Castles for good and bad.
