Detail InformationEdit

It is worthwhile seeing. Special gates called ‘posterns’ made it possible for pedestrians to leave the town. These 10-m corridors with stairs or a ramp inside hidden in the embankments led from the town to the front part of the embankment. They were usually located along the axes of curtain walls and were built at the time when the fortress was being modernized by J. Ch. Mallet-Malletski. The reconstruction of the gate and of the curtain wall was completed in the 1980s.
