Detail InformationEdit
The Old Jewish cemetery is located on a woody hill called Grodzisko which, together with a fortified castle situated there, was used for defense purposes until the end of the 10th century. The cemetery can be entered from Kalinowszczyzna Street through an iron gate. The key to the gate can be obtained from Bibianna Honig living in a nearby block of flats on Dembowskiego Street. The entrance from Sienna Street is closed. The history of the cemetery begins in the first half of the 16th century. The remains of earth fortifications and bomb craters are still noticeable. Out of numerous tombstones placed side by side on the whole hill only 60 macevas have been preserved.
