Zelazowa Wola, situated near Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is the country home of Frederyk Chopin. This acclaimed Polish pianist and composer was born here in 1810.
Today the family house is a museum and is arranged in the style of a 19th century Polish manor. The interior evokes the atmosphere of that era with furnishings, engravings and musical instruments from the 19th century transporting visitors back to those times. In the parlour, an open grand piano and fresh flowers in a vase seem ready to welcome the master and his music.
In the summer, the same room hosts piano concerts with eminent musicians and laureates of the International Piano Competition. The concerts take place on the terrace and in the garden. This garden was created in the 1920’s with some of the trees and shrubs imported from various parts of the World. During the summer season, every Sunday from May to the end of September, the music of Fryderyk Chopin is played in concerts organised traditionally by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. This does not mean that on weekdays silence reigns over Zelazowa Wola. From Monday to Saturday talented young people from all over Poland play in these picturesque surroundings.
