Detail InformationEdit

Almost 4000 exhibits connected with the activities of fire-fighting services have been collected in Wielkopolska Fire-Fighting Museum… [A. Plenzler; Technological monuments route in Wielkopolska; Poznan 2007] The museum is situated in a timber-framed building of a former Evangelical meeting-house. Its ground floor hosts, among others, old horse-drawn wagons and fire-engines, including the oldest fire-fighting wagon from 1786. On the balconies of this former Evangelical Church one may see the exhibits connected with the activities of voluntary fire-brigades as well as a collection of uniforms, helmets, medals and banners. There is also a large collection of posters and books concerning fire-fighting. As not all the exhibits fitted in the old church premises, two pavillions were built behind the church in the 1980s and 1990s and they host heavy equipment and fire trucks. There are, for example, fire trucks, starting from those constructed in 1920 to those withdrawn from use only a few years ago. The most interesting ones include two Chevrolets from 1927 and 1929 and Bedford – a ladder from 1954. [A. Plenzler; Technological monuments route in Wielkopolska; Poznan 2007].
