Thoubal is a city that is situated in the Thoubal district of the state of Manipur. It is a relatively well developed city and has good infrastructure. There are a few interesting places to visit around the town. The town is known for its temples and some of them are the Chinga Lairenbhi Temple and Panthoibee Temple. Other places of interest include Tomjing Ching and Manipur Sahitiya Samiti. Walking around the various bazaars is also a good idea. Some of the main bazaars are Athokpam Bazaar and Ningombam Laxmi Bazaar. One can find interesting souvenirs in most of the shops that are situated in the bazaar. There are numerous green paddy fields that can be seen in the nearby regions and the entire landscape around the city is pleasing.Numerous lakes and rivers can be found in the region and these are ideal for picnics. One can also engage in activities such as trekking and hiking. The calm and peaceful nature of the town attracts many visitors and the place is ideal for relaxing and escaping from the fast paced life of the city. The town has a good mix of small town life and modern facilities.

Thoubal district is one of the nine districts of Manipur state in northeastern India. This district is bounded by Senapati district on the north, Ukhrul and Chandel districts on the east, Churchandpur and Bishnupur districts on the south and Imphal West and Imphal East districts on the west.

By Air : The nearest airport is located at the city of Imphal. The airport is connected by scheduled flights from places such as Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Dimapur, Bangalore, Ahmadabad and Silchar amongst others. Most tourists opt for taxis from the airport up on arrival. Taxis are available outside and they charge around Rs 7 per kilometer as the base rate. The Imphal Airport is located at a distance of around 22 kilometers from the town of Thoubal.

By Train : The nearest railway station is situated at a distance of approximately 240 kilometers from the town of Thoubal at a place called Dimapur. The station is connected to the city of Kolkata by two trains. This is a good option for those who are arriving by rail. Second class non A/C ticket rates from Kolkata to Imphal are around Rs 400. Taxis are the best option to reach the place from the town of Dimapur.

Ningol Chakouba ; Venue:  Thoubal ; Period :  November ; Details:  This festival is celebrated by the Meitei community where the married women (Ningol) are invited for a feast at their parental house along with their children. Gifts are given to the women and her children. This is a family bonding festival that falls in the month of November. “Ningol” means a family’s woman or a girl child and is not necessarily married.
Yaoshang Festival ; Venue:  Thoubal ; Period :  February / March ; Details:  This is the most popular festival of Manipur celebrated in the month of February / March for five days. It is a colorful festival alike the Holi festival of the Hindus. The interesting feature of this festival is the moonlight dance. Boys and girls sing and dance holding hand in hand. It is a festival of joy and harmony.
Kut Festival ; Venue:  Thoubal ; Period :  November ; Details:  This is a Post-Harvest festival celebrated in the month of November by the Kuki tribe. It is a state holiday on this festival. The festival is marked by various cultural events such as traditional dances, folk dances, songs, sports and the most popular Miss Kut contest. It is a festival of peace and thanks giving to the Almighty for the harvests.
