Since 1957, this museum has been located in buildings adjacent to the old San Francisco Convent (cloister, kitchen and refectory), along with some newly built rooms. With a highly varied collection, it has important examples of religious art, traditional kitchen utensils from Galicia, an extremely interesting collection of pre-Roman precious metalwork, which includes the outstanding “Torques (Celtic necklace) de Burela”, collections of sun dials and heraldry… along with the most universal of ceramics from Lugo and Galicia: Sargadelos. It has monographic sections dedicated to Lugo prehistory and archaeology, fine art, ethnography and sumptuous art. Temporary exhibition room.
