90 West Street (alternatively West Street Building) may be a building in Lower Manhattan, big apple town designed by designer architect and structural engineer Gunvald Aus for the West Street Improvement Corporation. Once completed in 1907, the building’s Gothic styling and ornamentation served to emphasise its 23-story height, and foreshadowed Gilbert’s later work on the Frank Winfield Woolworth Building. Originally designed as associate office block, the most tenant was the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad and therefore the prime floor was occupied by Garret’s eating place, that publicised itself because the “World’s highest restaurant”.
Located on West Street, between Cedar and Albany Streets, simply south of the planet Trade Center web site, the building had a read to the Hudson River before Battery Park town was designed on fill across West Street.
