Itinerary
DAY 1 Arrive at Wayanad
Enroute to Wayanad, visit the Wayanad Wildlife and Muthanga sanctuaries, which offer sightings of free ranging wildlife like herds of elephants, gaurs, deers, wild cats and many species of reptiles, fishes, butterflies and birds. Next visit Sulthan Bathery, which is an artillery battery that used by Tipu Sultan. Arrive at Wayanad by afternoon and check in at the hotel. Evening drive to Sunrise valley to witness a spectacular sunset. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 Edakkal Caves Sightseeing
After breakfast visit Edakkal Caves. View prehistoric etchings on the cave walls – some dating back to about 5000 years. Also visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum. Evening return to Wayanad. Overnight at the Hotel.
DAY 3 Wayanad Sightseeing
After breakfast proceed to sightseeing of Pookod lake, a scenic freshwater lake, Lakkidi, which receives the second highest rainfall in India and Neelimala View Point. Thereafter visit Soojipara falls and end the day with a visit to Chembra peak. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4 Wayanad Sightseeing
After breakfast take a Jeep safari in the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary or visit Kuruwa Dweep (closed between June and September), an island in the Kabini River and Thirunelly Temple. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 5 Depart from Wayanad
Depart after breakfast. En route make a brief halt at Pookot Lake.
