1135 AD, Amber is situated in the Zenana section of the palace, next to Jaleb chowk and the Sila Devi temple. An impressive stairway from the Jaleb Chowk leads into the main palace grounds. Here, at the entrance itself to the right of the stairway steps is the Shila Devi temple where the Rajput Maharajas worshipped. Amber fort has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO and is the most visited monument in India, second only to the Taj Mahal. Made of red sandstone and white marble, it is truly a marvel of Hindu and Mughal architecture. The rugged and daunting exterior belies the intricacy and beauty of the interior. History comes to life again as authentic Rajasthani cuisine finds it’s most magical setting at 1135 AD Amber.
