The Volcano Show – Daily filmshows all year round. The Volcano Show is in two parts. You have the choice of one or two hour program. The shows are all year round in English. French and German.
Part One: Villi Knudsen’s Volcano Adventures You will witness almost all eruptions in Iceland since 1947 till the present day. The dramatic Mt. Hekla eruptions of 1947-48, 1970, 1980, 1981, 1991 and 2000, the Askja eruption of 1961, the Surtsey eruption of 1963-7, the Heimaey eruption of 1973, the Lake Mývatn eruptions of 1975-1984, the Vatnajökull glacier eruptions of 1983, 1996 (followed by spectacular flooding) and 1998.
Part Two: The Heimaey and Surtsey Eruptions Shown is the complete story of the dramatic Heimaey eruption of 1973, the evacuation of the small fishing village and scenes from the island today. Also shown is the complete story of the eruption of the island of Surtsey out of the ocean in November 1963 as well as the birth of two other islands, Little Surtsey and Christmas island.
The Volcano Show is shown nonstop every day during the summer period (July and August) Part One starts in English at 11:00, 15.00 and 20:00 and in German at 18:30 . Part Two starts in English at 12:00, 16:00 and 21:00 and in German at 19:30. Once a week on Saturdays the program is showed in French, Part One at 13:00 and Part Two at 14:00 September through June the Volcano Show is shown in English twice a day.
