Itinerary
DAY 1 Arrive at Amritsar
Arrive at Amritsar by approx 2 pm. Check into the hotel. Evening visit the Wagah Border to watch the Flag Retreat Ceremony. Wagah is an army outpost on the Indo-Pak border 30 Kms from Amritsar where the daily highlight is the evening “”Beating the Retreat”” ceremony. Soldiers from both countries march in perfect drill, going through the steps of bringing down their respective national flags. As the sun goes down, nationalist fervour rises and lights are switched on marking the end of the day amidst thunderous applause. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 Depart from Amritsar.
Have breakfast. Start your day with blessings from the Golden Temple – the most important Sikh shrine which is also called the Mecca of the Sikhs is a living symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs. Return and checkout of the hotel and depart for onward destination. Enroute (if time permits) visit Jallianwala Bagh – the place where on April 13, 1919, British and Gurkha soldiers opened fire on an unarmed gathering, killing hundreds of civilians.
